Direct payment reimagined – flexible, compliant, scalable
1. Starting point
As a leading charge point operator, it was clear to da emobil that the existing solution for direct payment at charging stations was not future-proof. They needed a system that was flexible, hardware-independent and easy to configure. The old setup was increasingly reaching its limits.
There were three key issues to be resolved:
- Fiscalisation obligation in Austria:
The solution had to cover the fiscalisation obligation in Austria in its entirety – including legally compliant cash management and digital receipt management. - Less technical maintenance:
Updates, configurations or troubleshooting previously required technicians to be on site at the charging station. This was a time-consuming and costly process. - More openness, new possibilities:
Strong hardware ties and limited compatibility – the existing solution made it almost impossible to use OCPI or seamlessly integrate existing software.
2. Objective
Together with FINETELLIGENCE, a solution was to be implemented that:
- provides digital receipts that are compliant with tax and legal requirements,
- is fully remotely maintainable,
- hardware-independent and scalable design and
- offers a modern user experience at the payment terminal – including receipt retrieval on smartphones via QR code scanning.
3. The solution
With the modular and cloud-based direct payment solution, da emobil can handle any challenge. A big plus is that the software solution is so flexible that it can grow with da emobil. Scalability sorted!
What does that mean exactly?
Digital receipt generation via QR code
After charging their electric cars, da emobil customers can scan a QR code at the charging station to download the digital receipt to their smartphones – paperless, immediately available and archived in accordance with legal requirements.
Cloud-based architecture – low maintenance & future-proof
All payment software runs in the cloud, which makes life much easier for da emobil:
- Updates, configurations and maintenance are carried out remotely, without the need for on-site technicians.
- da emobil can connect new terminals itself or adapt them.
- The payment app is scalable – new functions or adjustments can be implemented centrally, which is very practical for numerous charging stations such as those at da emobil.
Hardware-independent & combinable: AC/DC
The solution works across manufacturers – da emobil can integrate existing AC or DC charging stations as well as kiosk terminals. With this payment solution,
da emobil can even operate mixed AC/DC locations – with a uniform payment interface.
Customer branding
The design comes directly from da emobil, while FINETELLIGENCE handled the technical implementation in accordance with precise CI specifications. The result: an intuitive, brand-consistent user experience for da emobil’s charging customers.

5. Conclusion & outlook
The project demonstrates how modern cloud technology, hardware flexibility and legal compliance can be combined in a scalable solution.
- Rollout of additional terminals in progress
- Integrations into ERP or cloud systems are prepared
- Key learning: Clear roles, early coordination and openness in collaboration lead to fast, sustainable results – especially when dealing with complex requirements such as fiscalisation and scalability.
